In the not so distant past, in a not so distant town lived a boy. A boy who was always polite, never spoke out of turn and always brushed his teeth before bed. His name was Fallon and he too was not so distant from what we perceive to be a normal boy of about the age of seven, except for one thing that he never told anyone; it was his little secret! Fallon was forgotten...by everyone, including his own parents who were too busy to play or hide or even give him a good scolding. Poor Fallon was left alone, but many would think he didn't have it too bad, for you see, his parents bout him all the toys he wanted so he would never be bored. It is true that Fallon was almost never bored and all of the children were surely jealous of him.
"He is so lucky...whatever his name is" said the children of the neighborhood. However, Fallon did not feel lucky, nor was he the luckiest boy in the world. In fact, Fallon was never happy at all. Many professionals would have claimed that he was clinically depressed, schizophrenic and grew to become an introvert. Such a sad story for such a young boy and know one even knew, for he was simply forgotten about. Every night, Fallon would look out his window at the moon and dream and wish that maybe for just one day, the world would know who he was and most of all, that his parents would love him, play with him and just lay with him in his bed, staring out at the stars.
The moon had heard him that night and came down and spoke to Fallon and told him of three ways he was sure to be noticed. With tears in his eyes, Fallon listened tentatively to the moon.
"The first thing you must do is do something no one would ever expect you to do" said the moon. Fallon though long and hard. He had always done what any good boy should do and that was to stay out of trouble. Finally Fallon had an idea. He would open all of the sinks in the house or better yet, open all of the fire hydrants in the neighborhood and flood all of the streets and all of the houses. Surely that will get everyone's attention. But sadly it didn't and everyone carried on like nothing had happened. Disappointed, Fallon returned to the moon and asked what he should do next.
"The second thing you must do is to be naughty." the moon told Fallon. He had never been naughty or mischievous but it was worth a shot. Fallon ran through his house and knocked over all of his mothers expensive porcelain jars from around the world, and he did so with much feeling and a very startling scream to go with it. However, the scream came from Fallon when he slipped on his flooded floors, tumbled down the staircase and broke his leg. With tears rolling down his cheek and sobs of pain echoing from his mouth, he was still forgotten. In fact, his mother walked right past him on her phone, too busy to notice him. Fallon, enthralled with rage cried out for the moon and asked what the last thing he should do was. The moon looked at him and laughed the most sinister laugh and told him
"What else can you do, you have done it all and look what happened to you" said the moon as he went back to the sky. Fallon cried and cried and cried so hard that his sadness soon turned to rage which soon turned into an unspeakable evil; and as Fallon screamed, this evil went to every door in town and killed everyone it came across. Every man, woman and child who didn't even know Fallon existed now knew and paid the price. His anger grew so strong that when the evil got to his house, it grabbed up both of Fallon's parents and killed them too, leaving them on the front lawn. In that instant, Fallon had realized what he had done and couldn't believe it. His growing anger had killed everyone! Now he would really be forgotten, because there was no one left to forget him...and Fallon cried, and cried, and cried. He cried as he dragged himself out of his front door and toward his two dead parents and wrapped himself in their cold, lifeless arms and stared at the stars and at the moon, who had tricked him into unwanted vengeance. However so, Fallon got his wish. He was finally in his parents arms, staring up at the stars, being embraced, being touched; and for a split second as Fallon closed his eyes and started to drift off into sleep, he imagined that this is what it must feel like to be loved!
